The ultimate protection against runaway fastballs has finally arrived. The Rawlings S100 offers protection to hitters from fastballs of up to 100 mph. Made from same polypropylene found in bicycle helmets, the S100 batting helmet offers better protection than other batting helmet models, most of which are designed to be dent-resistant at speeds of up to approximately 70 mph. With the increased safety factor in mind, Minor League Baseball announced all hitters will be required to wear the S100 beginning with the 2010 season.

The most obvious difference between the new Rawlings S100 and other helmets on the market today is on the inside where the S100 has more padding. The thicker protection features a composite insert and an expanded liner made of Polypropylene, a hard, supportive material also used in some industrial helmets. By using a combination of Outlast and Pro-Dri material the increased safety of the S100 does not require a sacrifice of comfort. The Pro-Dri moisture management wicking material fights bacteria and the Outlast Thermocules continually absorb, store and release excess body heat to balance temperature and humidity buildup.

The Rawlings S100 Batting Helmet is available in eight colors and sizes 6 3/4 – 8. The S100 is designed to provide a snug fit; a player may wish to move up a size if they prefer a less snug feel. Please note that batters helmets should always be worn so it stays in the correct position at all times.

The Rawlings S100 has a three year limited warranty for abnormal defects to the shell, liner and padding. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear including scratches or paint flaking.
