The TAP Extreme Duty™ Weighted Balls are designed for institutional and commercial use. The 3.5, 5, 7, 14, and 21-ounce balls are the approximate size of a baseball while the 32-ounce ball is slightly larger. These sand-filled mini-medicine balls are pliable, squeezable and easy to handle. They are ideal for exercises and drills in environments where rebounding is not desired. The TAP Extreme Duty™ Weighted Balls can be used for both throwing and hitting drills.
Resilient and small, these weighted balls were designed to be used in close quarters as tools to improve arm strength and increase arm speed. They are excellent tools for providing resistance through the full range of motion used in throwing. They can be thrown against hard surfaces, padding, or net.
The TAP Extreme Duty™ Weighted Balls can be used for soft toss and tee hitting drills. The weight of the ball requires hitter’s to drive through the ball. The pliable ball tends to ‘wrap’ around the bat, staying on the bat longer and absorbing much of the force of impact while reducing bat recoil. This ‘wrapping’ effect provides immediate feedback to the hitter about how well the ball was hit.
Here is what Mike Ryan, owner of Fastball USA Academy, has to say about the TAP Extreme Duty Weighted Balls™:
"I wanted to thank you for making a major contribution to our explosive hitting program and the Fastball USA academy. In December 2010 I purchased the new heavy duty weighted ball for our training for pitchers which we now also use for hitters.
The new weighted balls have added a whole new dimension to our training. First off we are not only throwing but also hitting these weighted balls. Since our original purchase in December 2010 we have used these balls during every single training session and NOT ONE has broken.
Obviously every school, organization, team and individual has a budget. The weighted balls not only have proven beneficial to our training but also extremely durable. This means we don't have to replace broken balls. When we began hitting the weighted balls I had my doubts they would hold up. We have over 2 dozen hitters in our academy swinging at bat speeds that exceed 90mph. The weighted balls are still not breaking.
The feedback of the ball is incredible. The softness of the weighted ball also challenges our hitters to be perfect at the point of contact. If the hitter does not square the ball up perfectly the ball virtually goes no where. This is tremendous instant feedback for any hitter. We are always training our hitters to be explosive, but the weighted ball adds the challenge of perfect contact.
On a regular basis we use the blue, yellow, and red weighted balls in descending order. We work on hitting targets up to 15-20 feet away. The weight of the ball along with the softness of the ball presents a major challenge to our hitters. We have also started using this ball in soft toss and even front toss.
As you know we measure everything in our training center. Since the beginning of using these balls we have seen four of hitters reach 97mph of ball exit speed, and several more surpass 90mph of ball exit speed. I believe hitting these balls have helped the ball exit speed. The improvement in ball flight has also been noticed.
I am also using these balls with my 7 year old. We mainly use the 7oz ball with him and his ball flight has improved a lot. This summer we will be adding the 7oz and 14oz ball as part of our pre game hitting routine with Team Fastball USA. In the past we would simply hit wiffle balls with minimum time and space. Because of the training benefit and the fact that the ball does not fly, we will now be using the TAP balls in our pre game hitting.
Thanks for your dedication to the sport and adding a great training aid to our Explosive Hitting and Pitching Programs.
