About This Product
Lighter at the start, heaviest at the bottom, lighter again through the finish — a chain that loads the golf swing in the shape of the swing itself.
The SpeedChain® | NOS® | Golf Chain is a neuromuscular over-speed (NOS™) swing trainer built from a golf grip, a steel shaft, and a short chain with a terminal ball weight. A weighted club feels heavy the whole way through the swing; the Golf NOS chain does not. Its resistance scales with swing speed — light at the takeaway, building as the swing accelerates, heaviest near the bottom where impact would be, and lighter again as the swing decelerates into the finish.
- Resistance That Scales With Speed — The faster the swing, the more the chain and end mass load; slow down, and the load falls away. The resistance follows the swing instead of staying constant.
- Swing It in Both Directions — The chain can be swung left-handed and right-handed, so both sides of the body get work instead of only the playing side.
- Chain Behavior You Can Feel — When the sequence is off, the chain’s path feels off with it. A smooth, ground-up sequence keeps the chain organized; an all-arms swing does not.
- Short, High-Intent Blocks — Built to be blended with normal driver swings in the same session, not swung for hundreds of reps.
- Golf Grip, Steel Shaft — A familiar hold and address position, so the drill starts from the golfer’s real setup.
What Is It?
The SpeedChain® NOS® Golf Chain is a dry-swing trainer that applies changing resistance to the golf swing. It is not a club — it never strikes a ball — and it is not a replacement for lessons, range work, or play. It plugs into warm-ups and speed-and-sequencing blocks alongside normal driver swings.
How It Works
Three things the chain changes about a practice swing
The Load Scales With the Swing
As the swing accelerates, the chain and its end mass are carried outward and the resistance builds with the speed itself. Swing slowly and it stays light; commit to the swing and the load arrives — peaking near the bottom, where a driver would meet the ball.
Sequence You Can Feel
Keeping the chain organized through the bottom of the swing takes a ground-up sequence — lower body first, trunk transferring, arms and hands finishing. When the arms take over early, the chain’s path gets ragged and the golfer feels it immediately.
Both Sides Get Work
Golf loads one side of the body thousands of times a season. The Golf NOS swings in both directions, so a practice block can include the opposite pattern too — same tempo and sequence work, mirrored.
What the Research Says
Over-Speed Training, Stated Plainly
Golfers train clubhead speed with drills that change the load on the swing, and over-speed work — swinging something lighter or differently loaded at full intent — is an established part of that training. The Golf NOS chain shapes the load in a specific way: light at the start, heaviest at the bottom, light on the finish, in short blocks blended with normal driver swings. The training video on this page logs two golfers’ sessions across one summer, including their measured driver speeds at the first and last sessions.
One honest limit: there is no peer-reviewed study on this specific NOS™ product. Research on over-speed and weighted-implement training describes training environments and general principles; it does not establish that this device adds clubhead speed, distance, or accuracy for any golfer, and two golfers’ training logs are not a promised result. Judge the Golf NOS by the work it puts into a practice session — a resistance profile you can feel rep to rep, inside a broader plan of coaching and play.

How to Use It
Set up: Check the chain links and the end mass before each session. Train in a clear area with room for a full swing in every direction — the chain extends well past the shaft at speed — and never swing toward people, nets, or structures.
Training use: Work in short, high-intent blocks blended with normal driver swings: a set of Golf NOS swings, then a set with your driver. Swing in both directions across the block. Start at a controlled speed and build to full intent only as the swing stays balanced and the chain stays organized.
Care: Inspect the grip, shaft, links, and connectors before use and replace any worn component. Store it dry and untangled.
Variant & Selection Guide
| Configuration | SKU |
|---|---|
| Single Golf NOS trainer unit | GNOS |
Sold as a single configuration: one trainer with a golf grip, steel shaft, chain, and terminal ball weight. There are no separate models or weight options to choose between.
Who This Is For
- Commonly used for golfers working on swing speed, tempo, balance, and sequencing in practice sessions.
- Commonly used for coaches adding over-speed and changing-resistance work to range and warm-up structures.
- Commonly used by golfers who want both-directions work in their training, not just playing-side reps.
Not recommended as a standalone answer for swing faults or scoring problems; it belongs inside a broader plan of coaching, physical preparation, and regular play.
What This Implement Does NOT Do
- It is not a golf club; it never strikes a ball and it is not legal for play.
- It is not a promise of clubhead speed, distance, or accuracy gains; results depend on the golfer’s overall program.
- It is not a diagnostic tool; it will not identify why a swing produces a slice, a hook, or contact problems.
- It is not a rehabilitation device, and it is not meant for unsupervised junior use.

Safety Compliance & Youth Guardrails
Not a toy: This is a training tool for supervised practice environments. At full speed the chain and end mass carry real force; treat every swing like a full driver swing.
Clear space: Never swing the Golf NOS toward other people, nets, or hard structures, and check that the area behind and around the swing is clear before every set.
Inspect before use: Check the links, connectors, and end mass before each session. Do not use the trainer if any component is worn, bent, or loose.
Not a rehabilitation device: Any use in rehab or return-to-play settings should follow a plan written or approved by qualified medical or performance professionals.
Supervision: Junior and less-experienced golfers should use it only under adult supervision, starting at controlled speeds. Stop immediately if pain, dizziness, or unusual fatigue appears.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I hit golf balls with the Golf NOS?
No. The Golf NOS is a dry-swing trainer — it is never used to strike a ball. Golfers swing it in open space, then pick up their driver for ball work.
How is it different from a weighted club or a heavy warm-up club?
A weighted club loads the swing evenly from start to finish. The Golf NOS chain loads with the swing itself: light at the start, building as swing speed rises, heaviest near the bottom where impact would be, and lighter again through the finish.
Will it add 5 mph to my driver?
No honest answer can promise a number. The video on this page logs two golfers’ measured driver speeds across 24 training sessions in the summer of 2021 — those are their results, in their program. There is no peer-reviewed study on this specific product, and what any golfer gets from overspeed work depends on the training around it: coaching, practice volume, and physical preparation.
Why swing it in both directions?
Golf is a one-sided sport, and the reps add up on one side of the body. Swinging the chain in both directions lets a golfer work the opposite pattern as well, instead of loading the same side every rep.
When should I use it in a practice session?
In short, high-intent blocks blended with normal driver swings — a set of chain swings, then a set with the driver — as part of warm-ups and speed-and-sequencing work at the range or in open space.
Is it only for advanced golfers?
No. It suits a wide range of skill levels when it is integrated into a broader plan that includes technical coaching, physical preparation, and regular play. Junior golfers should use it only under adult supervision.
